Truecaller has launched a video call feature dubbed ‘Truecaller Voice’. It is a voice over internet protocol (VoIP) based feature will allow users to make free high quality (HD), low latency and quick to connect audio calls through WiFi or mobile data connectivity.

Truecaller users are on a daily basis making more than 180 million phone calls through its dialer, whereas half of the calls are to users-to-users. The Truecaller Voice shortcut has been strategically integrated at relevant touchpoints in the app such as call logs, SMS Inbox, contact profile and after call screen. This enables users to seamlessly access the VOIP based call anywhere within the app without switching to other applications. With this, Truecaller currently offers a one-stop integrated communication platform that hosts a range of key features including Caller ID, Intelligent dialer, Smart SMS inbox, Mobile Payments (only available in India) and Flash messaging.

The Truecaller app, which allows people to see who’s calling and filter out spam calls and SMS, has already more than 50 million users in Africa. The service is identifying more than half a billion calls on a monthly basis in the region, and 50 percent of all SMS users receives is considered as spam.

According to the company, it has more than 6 million users in Kenya alone, where the user base has grown with over 35 percent over the past year. The app is blocking and filtering out more than 4.4 million calls, and 14 million spam SMS on a monthly basis in the country.
