Acting Kenya Film Commision (KFC) CEO, Carol Njoroge, has been ousted and replaced with Timothy Owase, also in an acting capacity. Timothy is the Festival and Funds/Skills Development Manager at the Commission.

The KFC website has already been updated to reflect this new development.

According to a source with knowledge on the matter, Caroline was removed from the CEO position in a board meeting on 2nd March 2018 that had been called to discuss other matters. The removal was unprocedural as she wasn’t issued with a show cause letter at the time. The letter was later issued on 7th March 2018.

Carol took over as Acting CEO from Caroline Kittur in July 2017 who had also served in an acting capacity. Carol was also holding the fort as the Liaison and Production Manager and she provided liaison services for the making of the Watu Wote film.

Carol declined to comment for this article as she is apparently awaiting the conclusion of an internal process related to her ouster. Board Chair, Chris Foot, also declined to comment referring us to Caroline’s show cause letter instead.
