Tonya Ahenda has won the Kenyan edition of the Airtel Trace Music Star. She beat four other upcoming musicians, Ivlyn Mutua, Daniel Osanya, Elvis Kosiso and Ciano Maimba, to win the Kenya crown.

Tonya was picked as the winner by a panel that included singer Atemi Oyungu, singer/choreographer Kevin Wyre and singer/music Producer Chris Adwar. Tonya emerged the winner after performing the song falling by Alicia Keys.

Tonya won a cash prize of Ksh. 1.5 Million and will also represent Kenya at the Africa grande finale in Lagos, Nigeria on June 11th 2016. She will go head-to-head with 9 other contestants from across Africa to win the coveted Ariel TRACE Music Star 2016 prize. The first runners up was Elvis Kosiso and they took home a cash prize of Kshs 100,000. Ciano Maimba, who was the second runner up, got a cash prize of Ksh. 50,000.
