Uganda secured a vital 3-0 victory against Guinea in the TotalEnergies CAF African Nations Championship (CHAN) to bounce back from their opening loss. The win, played in Kampala, puts the host nation firmly back in contention for a knockout stage spot.
The Cranes took the lead in the 31st minute when Reagan Mpande scored with a powerful header. In the second half, Allan Okello extended the lead from the penalty spot after a VAR review confirmed a foul in the box. Substitute Ivan Ahimbisibwe sealed the emphatic win in the 89th minute, scoring the third goal.
The match was marked by a VAR decision that went against Guinea, as a penalty awarded to them was overturned, adding to their frustration.
This victory moves Uganda into second place in Group C with three points, tied with Algeria, and makes the final round of group matches critical for all three teams to secure the two available knockout spots.
