The Old Starehian Society has announced 10th Annual Golf Tournament slated for Friday, 27th September, at the Limuru Country Club. Over 200 players, including Old Boys and other supporters from the wider community, are expected to participate.
This year’s event is part of the celebrations marking 65 years of Starehe Boys’ Centre, a milestone that reflects the institution’s enduring impact on the lives of thousands of young Kenyans. The tournament aims to raise funds for the Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET), which supports the education of bright, deserving students. This year’s fundraising target of Ksh. 6.5 million will sponsor the secondary education of six students; four boys at Starehe Boys Centre and two girls at Starehe Girls Centre. A portion of the funds will also contribute to the GMET endowment fund, ensuring the continuity of this vital initiative.
The event has become a celebrated fixture in the society’s golfing calendar, bringing together alumni and supporters for a day of camaraderie, competition, and philanthropy. Over the years, the event has grown in both size and significance, serving as a powerful platform to raise funds for the Griffin Memorial Endowment Trust (GMET) and support the education of bright, underprivileged students.
Speaking ahead of the event the Mr. David Nyaga, Golf Captain of the Old Starehian Society said, “We are excited to host our 10th annual golf tournament and bring together Old Starehians and supporters for a great cause. This Tournament is a testament to the unwavering commitment of our alumni and supporters to ensuring that every deserving student has access to quality education. We are proud to continue this legacy of giving back. The Old Starehian Society Golf Tournament has grown into more than just a sporting event. It has become a powerful platform for alumni and friends to come together and make a lasting impact on the education of underprivileged students.”
