StarTimes has announced a price reduction in acquiring its approved StarTimes decoders. The StarTimes Pay Television Digital Box will now be retailing at Kshs.. 1,999 from Kshs.. 2,999, while the Free To Air STB will retail at Kshs. 4,499 from Kshs. 4,999. The new prices take effect immediately and will be available at the company’s retail shops and distributors across the country.
StarTimes will also provide each month free access to different 5 premium additional international channels apart from 13+Local channels for the Free To Air subscribers. The five channels include Star Novela, Fox, Sentanta Africa, AMC, and National Geographic Gold (from 1st June-31st June).
“Access to digital television is no longer a luxury, as more and more Kenyans embrace the technology. We are impressed by the headway so far in our quest to ensure the majority of Kenyan households have access to affordable digital television service. We continue to also develop value adds with the aim of giving subscribers a taste of our premium programing,†noted StarTimes Media Vice President for Marketing Mr. Hans Han.
The company has set a target of covering up to 90% of the Kenyan population by the end of this year hence giving more Kenyans access to the affordable digital television service while ensuring subscribers get value for their money.
