Recent reports have shown the average mortgage rate is 16.23%, with no significant difference from the previous year’s end rate at 16.5%. With such high lending rates, most Kenyans have opted to rent homes, a situation that leaves them in a precarious position as rent rates have also surged by 2 to 3 % in the last year.
With this in mind, KCB has tapped into the need for Kenyans to acquire homes with low mortgage rates; particularly for those living in the Diaspora. They have done this by launching new rates for Diaspora Mortgages with rates ranging from 9% and 14.5% between April and June 2014.
These rates will enable Kenyans to invest in the growing real estate market back home.
To popularize these new rates, KCB has embarked on using radio for marketing and will also tour various states in USA.
