Google has announced that its Google Africa Certifications Scholarships for developers who want to be certified on Google’s Android, Web and Cloud technologies.
The applications are open to Africans and the deadline for application is Wednesday 15th May 2019. It will give an opportunity for 30,000 Africans to go through the program. Additionally, 1,000 grants will be given.
The Google Africa Certification program will be done in partnership with Google training partners, Pluralsight and Andela. They will take the developers through a curriculum designed to prepare them for entry-level and intermediate roles as software developers in these fields. The application deadline is Wednesday 15th May 2019.
While making the announcement, Charles Murito Google Kenya Country Manager said that Google is committed towards young Africans for future jobs through the LaunchPad Accelerator. “We are offering 30,000 additional scholarship opportunities and 1,000 grants for the Google Associate Android, Mobile Web, and Associate Cloud Engineer certifications. At Google, we’re committed to growing both entrepreneurship and digital skills. Launchpad Accelerator Africa underlines that commitment, and we are strongly believe that competency in digital skills among young Africans is key in driving the continent as it grows”.
