Safaricom has awarded 16 people from different regions with Ksh. 1 million in the ongoing Shukrani Kochokocho Kenya Nzima consumer promotion.
Vincent Munga from Bungoma was among the sixteen millionaires announced. “The Ksh. 1 Million will be of great help to me. I struggle so much to keep my siblings in school while depending on the income from my small shop. It is a great cushion. I thank Safaricom for celebrating me as a customer,” said Munga.
The other Ksh. 1 million winners in week one of the promotion included: Makori Mogoa Ayienda (North Eastern), Rolyne Kageha Mukunza (Coast), Belinda Atieno Nyang’or (Nyanza), Esther Awino Amot (Nairobi), Ernest Kaunyangi Nkubitu (Eastern), Daniel Makali Kilobi (Central) and Mary Nyambura Mbugua (Rift Valley).
Week two winners include Sofia Mohamed Ali (North Eastern), Japheth Okari Mokua (Nyanza), Nathan Kibiwott Suter (Rift Valley), Naomi Wanjiru Gichoya (Central), Somo Halake Hapicha (Central), and Abraham Agesa Makenzi (Nairobi) and Julius Dzuwa Kalume (Coast).
The company has also awarded more than 1.5 million customers with weekly cash and daily airtime prizes worth over Ksh. 78 million.
Winners from every region are randomly selected through weekly draws with more than 500,000 customers expected to win cash prizes of Ksh. 1,000 while more than 5 million other customers stand to win daily airtime prizes. The ten week promotion plans to reward more than 5 million Safaricom customers across the country with more than Ksh. 250 million in prizes. The promotion is in its third week having launched in February.
Entry into the Shukrani Kochokocho promotion is automatic. For every Ksh. 20 airtime recharge Safaricom network either via scratch cards or M-PESA, you will receive 10 entries into the promotion. Additionally, every Ksh. 20 transacted on M-PESA will attract one entry. Only person to person (send money), PayBill, Buy Goods and business to customer M-Pesa transactions are eligible.
