Airtel has finally launched 4G on its network. The 4G service is currently available in Nairobi and Mombasa and the telco plans to roll it out in other towns in the future.
Airtel customers can upgrade to 4G by dialing *100# and selecting the upgrade menu or by visiting an Airtel shop and getting a free 4G SIM.
Airtel has a lot of catching up to do as its main competition Safaricom launched its 4G service in 2014 and already has a countrywide footprint. Telkom Kenya also launched theirs in June last year.
