All you need to know about Shangwe Mtaani by Safaricom

Safaricom has launched a new consumer promotion campaign dubbed Shangwe Mtaani. The 60 day campaign will culminate with celebrations to mark Safaricom’s 15th Anniversary. Customers taking part will win devices, airtime and cash prizes totaling to Kshs. 100 million.

Unlike other promotions that Safaricom has had in the past, Shangwe Mtaani will have regional grand prize winners.

Here is all you need to know about the promotion.

1. Duration

The promotion will last for 60 days. The promotion start date is today 2nd October 2015.

2. Participation

To take part in the promotion, customers will need to send their name via SMS to 29555. Once subscribed, customers will receive information of which region they belong to based on their location at the time of registration. Both prepaid and postpaid customers can take part.

Customers will then need to respond to SMS questions sent to them which will cost Kshs 5 per SMS. They will earn entries for registration and for responding to the questions. They will then be entered into the daily, weekly and grand draws for their regions.

3. Entries

Entries will be awarded as followed:

a. 100 entries on registration
b. 100 entries for every correct answer
c. 50 entries for every wrong answer
d. 50 entries for an invalid answer (that is neither A or B)
e. 1000 entries for every 10,000 entries reached

4. Prizes

The regions have been segmented as Nairobi, Mt. Kenya, Nyanza, Western, Rift Valley, Coast and Eastern- and each region will have its own set of winners including a regional Ksh. 3 million Grand Prize winner.

Winners of the grand prize of Ksh. 3 million, cash prize of Kshs.1 million and Ksh. 250,000 will be contacted through 0729 333 333. Winners of cash prizes between Kshs. 5,000 and Kshs. 1,000 will have their money sent through M-PESA.

The total amount of prizes to be given is Ksh. 100 million.
