Safaricom has set up a KShs 200 million hub in Kapsoya town, Eldoret in a bid to improve the quality of Safaricom’s services in the North Rift.
Safaricom’s Director of Technology, Thibaud Rerolle noted that the hub will help solve the problem of network outages, in addition to housing Safaricom’s constantly expanding customer base in the region. Data speeds in the region are also expected to improve.
Safaricom has 11 equipment hubs in Kenya; Kapsoya Eldoret is the first fully equipped one in the North Rift region. The infrastructure is expected to support future developments by Safaricom who are currently rolling out 2G and 3G sites across the country in addition to being the first firm in sub-Saharan Africa to launch 4G.
