Samsung-Galaxy-Mega

Samsung has today launched a new Smartphone in the Galaxy range in Kenya, the Samsung Galaxy Mega. The Samsung Galaxy Mega is a dual SIM phone that runs on Jelly Bean. The Mega is currently the only smartphone in the Kenyan market to feature a 5.8 inch screen. With the Galaxy Mega, users will get a hybrid experience i.e part smartphone and part tablet.

Samsung has also unveiled Kenya Sevens Rugby player Collins Injera as the Galaxy Mega brand ambassador. Collins is the third sevens rugby player to get such an endorsement deal after Humphrey Kayange(Kenchic) and Biko Adema (Prestige Margarine).

The Samsung Galaxy Mega will retail at Kshs. 38,000. The phone will come with a free bluetooth headset and 1.5GB from Safaricom.

The Galaxy Mega is a fantastic device and at a not so expensive price point. The fact that it has such a large screen and that it is dual SIM is an added advantage. The Mega launch comes hot on the heels of the launch of the Tecno Phantom which is also a Dual SIM smartphone but a bit cheaper at Kshs. 20,000. It will be interesting to see going forward what other affordable smartphones phone manufacturers bring into the Kenyan market. Whatever happens, it can only be good for consumers as smartphones are getting cheaper by the day.
