Pad Heaven Initiative has launched a new book called Path To Womanhood that is geared towards helping adolescent girls to understand menstruation and better take care of themselves when on their periods. Path To Womanhood is available for sale on Rugano Books for Ksh. 325.
The new book, which was published by the Kenya Literature Bureau, is a guide of girls aged 9 to 14 years. It is a guide book for menstrual hygiene book and it covers puberty, menstruation, personal hygiene, pain management and diet. The book can also be used by parents, teachers and guardians to guide young girls on how to navigate their periods.
Pad Heaven Initiative is a social enterprise that was founded in 2010 by Florence Kamaitha with an aim of helping girls and women access affordable menstrual hygiene products. It manufacturers low cost sanitary pads with an aim to reduce girls absenteeism from class during their periods. In 2015, Pad Heaven was selected as a LAUNCH Nordic finalist, a global innovation platform, for its work.

Florence Kamaitha is a Mandela Washington Fellow (2014), A Vital Voices Fellow (2015), a recipient of the Heroes Award by Nation Media and a Tony Elumelu top 1000 entrepreneurs in Africa. In 2014, she was selected by First Lady of USA, Mrs Michelle Obama to be in her taskforce of 40 Young African Leaders to deliberate on challenges affecting young girls in schools.
