Kenya Airways has today announced the launch of four weekly flights to Mauritius. This is a part of its strategy to expand its footprint across Africa. This is important in my opinion because the African skies have long been dominated by the European airlines.
The Nairobi – Mauritius route is expected to have an impact on the Kenya Airways direct flight to New York. This is due to the fact that it will reinforce the attractiveness of the route to premium American leisure tourists.
The new route will serve to complement the existing operations by Air Mauritius. Kenya Airways will operate flights between Nairobi and Mauritius on Monday, Wednesday, Thursday and Saturday. On Monday and Thursday flights will depart Nairobi at 11:45am while on Wednesday and Saturday flights will depart Nairobi at 9:50pm.
The route will be operational as from June 2018.
