Vivo Energy Kenya last week unveiled a dining hall that they had helped construct at Bishop Lele – Mang’elu Secondary School in Kitui. This was part of their community social responsibility where they seek to improve the lives of communities in which they operate in. The School which is located in Mang’elu location in Kitui West constituency and was named Bishop Lele, in remembrance of the late Boniface Lele, a Catholic Bishop who hailed from Kitui County.

The school began operations in 2014 courtesy of the Catholic Church and the local community in Mange’lu. Over the years and with the help of various partners, the school has been putting up one structure after the other. The government and corporate organizations such as Safaricom have been in the forefront of building the school. Vivo Energy Kenya came in this year and funded the building of the school’s dining hall which will be serving 174 students, members of staff and the subordinate staff.

The Vivo Energy Kenya, Communications Manager Angela Munyua was at hand to officially open the dining hall. In attendance was Vivo Energy Aviation Manager, Jacob Kakunu. To mark the day, the school’s board of Management, the principal and Angela Munyua planted trees. A number of students were selected to adopt the planted trees and take good care of them. After the launch, there was a fundraiser session led by the patron of the school, Mr. Nicholas Mulela. The funds drive was to enable the school equip the newly unveiled dining hall among other projects in the school.
