Kenyan band Sauti Sol have been crowned as winners of Best African Act at the 2014 MTV EMA. The MTV EMA is one of the biggest global music events of the year that celebrates the hottest artists from around the world.
Clinching that Best African act title now gives Sauti Sol the opportunity to be voted in the Worldwide Act award category, the winner of which will be revealed during the 2014 MTV EMA in Glasgow
Sauti Sol took to social media and campaigned for votes which worked in their favor. When the news broke, they once again thanked their fans on social media.

Sauti Sol is the first Kenyan act ever to have received this award. They beat fellow nominees Davido, Toofan, Diamond and Goldfish to win the title of Best African Act
Voting for the nominations for the Worldwide Act category is open from 12:00 CAT on Thursday 23 October and will close at 00:59 CAT on Wednesday 29 October. The final list of 10 Worldwide Act nominees will be revealed via mtvema.com on Thursday 30 October.
The 2014 MTV EMA will broadcast live from the SSE Hydro in Glasgow on MTV and MTV Base on Sunday, 9 November at 22:00 CAT with Global hip hop superstar Nicki Minaj being the host.is set to host the 2014 MTV EMA.
