LG Electronics (LG) has been recognized for its superior consumer and industrial design, bagging 31 product design accolades in this year’s Red Dot Awards. The Red Dot Award is one of the most prestigious professional design competitions globally.
According to the Red Dot website, the award is given for products that have “outstanding design quality” and are “aesthetically appealing, functional, smart and innovative.”
The winning designs include
- LG InstaView Door-in-Door refrigerator
- LG Fridge and Freezer pair
- LG CordZero stick vacuum
- LG Air conditioner and Styler
Among the most outstanding LG designs was in the Materials and Surfaces category for their implementation of color, material and finish (CMF). Materials such as stainless steel, glass, metal and FENIX, an innovative material with advanced coating technology developed by Arpa Industriale, are utilized to illuminate the refinement of each product in the collection.
Introduced as a bold re-imagining of conventional appliances, LG’s designer appliances fuse technologically advanced home appliances with premium materials that can be customized to meet the specifications of each customer.
“As a brand that strives to deliver quality products with exceptional design, it is always a great honor to receive recognition from Red Dot. LG is devoted to meeting consumers’ desire to enhance the quality of space with great products with appealing aesthetics. We will continue to pursue innovative designs that deliver on these expectations,” said Lee Chul-bae, head of LG Electronics’ Corporate Design Management Center.
Also recognized for its exceptional design was the LG WashTower, a single-unit, vertical laundry solution that frees up more floor space while handling ultra-large loads.
Beyond home appliances, a number of LG’s computer products such as the UltraGear gaming monitor and LG gram won awards for their advanced, sleek designs exemplifying the products’ core values.
The distinctive mark has become established internationally as one of the most sought-after seals of quality for exceptional design. This year about 7,800 products were submitted for the jury’s consideration.
