Huawei has launched 4 new phones, the Y3II, Y5II, Y6II and GR5 mini, as part of a campaign targeted towards the youth. The campaign, dubbed Light up with colour, will see Huawei go to different Kenyan universities to engage and interact with students.

The phones to be showcased in this campaign are the Y3II, Y5II, Y6II and GR5 mini. These devices will retail between 7,999 and 24,999. The phones are designed to challenge the status quo by offering unique features at very affordable price. The GR5 mini for instance boasts of a finger print sensor, octacore processor, 3,000 MAH battery, 13 Megapixel back camera and an 8 MP front camera for only Ksh. 25,000.

The campaign also will see Huawei partner with TV host Willy Tuva of Mseto East Africa a show that airs on Citizen Tv. They will tour different universities in Kenya while publicizing the Y series phone. The tours will take place from September through to December 2016.

Speaking at the launch Mark Hemaobin, the General Manager, Huawei Mobile Kenya described the youth market as untapped with a great potential for Huawei to continue positioning various products and services to this target group. The company’s strategy is focused on embedding powerful features in the mid-range devices at an affordable price to accommodate consumers’ lifestyle.
