If your business relies on the TEAMS cable for internet you need to brace yourself for slow internet speeds. This is due to the scheduled maintenance works on the cable aimed at enhancing its security at UAE-off shore against anchoring ships. It is also due to the fact that the port is meant to be expanded between July-August 2016.
The downtime for the cable will be from today 20th – 28th July 2016, works that will be carried out after the 28th will not affect service delivery. Shareholders in the cablw who will be affected include, Government of Kenya, Safaricom, Telkom Kenya, Liquid Telecom, Jamii Telecom, Wananchi Telecom ( Zuku, Airtel), Access Kenya Group and Bandwidth & Cloud Services Group. This means that just about everyone will be affected by this outage.
