December is here and PAWA 254 is ready to make your holiday festive with the launch of the Pawa Festival; Art in the Streets. This is the first edition of what PAWA has said will be an annual event. It will take place this Sunday, 20th December 2015 from 10.00am to 10.00pm along City Hall Way.

The Festival will include Musical performances, the Governor’s Desk, Photography exhibition, Street Film Screenings, Live Installations, Dialogues and workshops on social accountability issues and select vendors. The event is absolutely free to ensure that everyone has a chance to experience the power of Art.

There is an exciting line up for all you music lovers. Set to feature at the inaugural edition are the likes of Makadem, Sarabi Band, Giovanni, Lamebrain, Teardrops, Sali Oyugi, Octave Band, Zikki Band, Valentine Ziki, Checkmate Mido, Fadhili Itulya, Idd Aziz and Blinky Bill. If you are a fan of visual art you will have the chance to indulge your senses with pieces from Faith Wanjala, Nancy Cherwon, Salim Busuru, Nancy Tind, Clavers Odhiambo and Alexa, with Dance by Art and Abolition and Street Dance Kenya.

There will also be a fun family and childrens’ corner, with magic tricks performed by Sebastien the Magician, a bouncing castle and live spoken word pieces as performed by Wangari Grace. Santuri Safari will lead a line-up of dedicated DJs to ensure there is non-stop musical delivery. The MC of the occasion will be comedian and entertainer, Obinna.

‘PAWA Festival is our way of bring the Arts to the Kenyan mwananchi, taking the Art back to where it belongs – the people,’ PAWA254 General Manager Njeri Mwangi said while announcing the festival.
