I rarely find a series that intrigues me and captures my full attention. But I will admit that, despite having a really busy schedule, this one made me spend that extra time meant for precious sleep just to finish the first season.

Da Vinci’s Demons follows the life of eccentric genius Leonardo Da Vinci, giving a fictional account of his adult life. Through his ingenious inventions he gets his way into the royal court. He also gets into an affair with the royals mistress which they try to keep a secret. The plot of the series has several twits and turn always keeping you entertained. The mystery that surround Leonardo’s life is also something that keeps you interested especially as he tries to understand more about his mother and why she left him at a young age. The plot is also centered on his search for a book that has the world’s secrets called the Book of Leaves. I wouldn’t like to preempt much though and be termed a spoiler for those yet to watch.

I like the character of Leonardo who always keeps you guessing as to what he will do next and what he’s genius mind will think of.

My issue with the series might be the depiction of homosexuality as norm during the ear in which it is set but I am not one to take a high moral ground on the matter. I must warn you that there are several really strong sexual scenes but the story line is well put and the series is highly rated. The actors have really taken to their roles and like me you’ll be glued to the screen for a few hours in a bid to finish the first season.
