BrighterMonday Kenya has announced a landmark partnership with the Kenyan security sector. This collaboration aims to modernize security leadership while creating a sustainable pipeline of professional opportunities for emerging talent across the country.

The initiative focuses on two primary goals: strengthening the quality of corporate security leadership and increasing access to work-readiness training for young Kenyans. By bridging the gap between verified skills and industry demand, the partnership seeks to elevate the standard of security placements nationwide.

As operational risks and global threats become more complex, the demand for sophisticated, intelligence-led security professionals has never been higher. Ms. Penina Kimani, BrighterMonday’s Country Programme Lead and Head of Strategy (TATC), emphasized the necessity of this evolution.

“Kenyan organisations are increasingly required to adopt proactive, intelligence-led, and skills-driven approaches to onboarding talent,” Ms. Kimani stated. “BrighterMonday will collaborate with security sector associations in placing young people aged 18 to 35 into dignified and fulfilling work in the security sector in Kenya and Africa.”

Ms. Kimani further noted that because the security sector serves as a fundamental pillar for economic growth, it must evolve in tandem with the expectations of both jobseekers and modern employers.

The partnership is a key component of the Gen-Kazi Program, implemented by BrighterMonday in collaboration with the Mastercard Foundation. This program is designed to tackle unemployment by upskilling and reskilling youth, specifically targeting underserved demographics:

  • 70% Women
  • 70% Non-urban youth
  • 10% Persons with disabilities

The collaboration will provide comprehensive training services and direct employer linkages to ensure participants are prepared for the specific needs of today’s security market.
