Telkom Kenya has also increased the prices after the taxes on its services were reviewed upwards by the Finance Act 2018.
Effective today, Telkom Kenya prices for calls will increase by 30 cents and by 10 cents for SMS. This means that their services will now costs as follows:
- Telkom Kenya to Telkom Kenya calls – KSh. 2.30 per minute
- Calls to other networks – KSh. 3.30 per minute
- SMS (any-network) – KSh. 1.10 per SMS.
In addition, our Pay-As-You-Go (PAYG) price for Mobile Data will an increase by 30 cents per MB which means that the price per MB is now Ksh. 4.30. Mobile Data Bundle prices will not be affected.
The Finance Act 2018 increased Excise Duty tax on Calls, SMS and Internet from 10% to 15%. Additionally, a 15% Excise Duty tax on internet services was introduced.
Safaricom also increased their prices on 18th October and Airtel Kenya, on 23rd October.
