When i first heard about Oppo, i have to say that i was not impressed, my thinking was that it was just another poor quality phone brand that had been launched in our market. This was until i had a chance to try it out and all my misgivings dissipated. Here are my thoughts;

Unboxing

The Oppo F7 comes with;

  • 1 charger
  • 1 set of earphones
  • 1 phone cover
  • 1 pin for the sim card slot

Appearance

The Oppo F7 comes with smooth rounded edges that make it easy to handle. It has a 6.23 inch screen with LTPS IPS LCD capacitive touchscreen that has 16M colors. The thing about having a phone with a 6.23 inch screen is that it makes consumption of media especially videos more enjoyable. The screen is full HD with 1080 x 2280 pixels so you can imagine how crispy the images are. The phone’s 19:9 ratio  means more screen and less bezels. The screen has Corning Gorilla Glass 5 which offers adequate protection as such one does not need a screen protector.

Camera

The phones comes with a 25 MP front camera and 16 MP back camera. If you are into selfies, the front camera will make you love this phone hence the reason it is referred as the selfie expert. Other than the 25 MP camera, the phone also incorporates AI technology to make your selfie more vivid and flawless. I am not into selfies but this phone made an impression on me.

The 16 MP back camera also has a flash and takes some decent photos.  Check them out below.

Fingerprint Sensor

The phone comes with a fingerprint sensor at the back which makes unlocking the phone that much easier not to mention the added security. The sensor can save up to five fingerprints and it is fast and accurate.

Facial Recognition

Artificial Intelligence technology allows users to unlock their phones using facial recognition. The phone does this by scanning the 296 unique recognition points of their faces improving accuracy. Its pretty fast and nifty.

Sound

The sound on the Oppo F7 is not overly impressive but it is something that one can work with. However, the ear phones make up for it with their crisp sound. I also like the fact that they don’t have replaceable buds which have a habit of getting lost.

The speakers are conveniently located at the bottom so you can listen to your music whichever way you place the phone.

Performance

The phone comes with a 4 GB RAM, Mediatek MT6771 Helio P60 Chipset. It has Octa-core that is 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A73 and 4×2.0 GHz Cortex-A53 and a Mali-G72 MP3 GPU. All these features combined make the phone incredibly fast and i am yet to experience any sort of lag while multi-tasking on the phone.

Battery

The phone comes with a 3400mAh battaery which is non-removable. A big battery means that you can use the phone for long periods without having to recharge. A full battery took me a day and a half on fairly heavy usage.

However, the downside is that it does not have a fast charge option and one has to wait for two over hours for it to charge fully.

Storage

The phone comes with 64 GB internal storage which can be expanded using a Micro SD to up to 256 GB.

Conclusion

The Oppo F7 is fast and nifty not to mention that the cameras take some awesome photos. In my opinion this phone is a definite buy.
