The United Nations Secretary-General António Guterres has appointed Kenya’s Nanjira Sambuli to a high-level panel on digital cooperation. The panel will be co-chaired by Melinda Gates and Jack Ma.

The panel was established to advance proposals to strengthen cooperation in the digital space among Governments, the private sector, civil society, international organizations, technical and academic communities and other relevant stakeholders.

Nanjira is a researcher and analyst who currently works as the Digital Equality Advocacy Manager at the World Wide Web Foundation. She leads advocacy efforts to promote digital equality in access to and use of the internet at the NGO. She serves as a member of DFID’s Digital Advisory Panel and was previously the Research Lead at the iHub and also served as a deputy on the United Nations High Level Panel for Women’s Economic Empowerment (2016-17).
