In the last few days, some Kenyans have discovered that they had been registered as members of a political party without their consent. This was after the Office of the Registrar of Political Parties (ORPP) provided a platform orpp.or.ke/ppregstatus that the public could to use to check if there were registered as a political party member.
I’ve never registered as a member of any political party yet I’m a registered member of Jubilee! Just like I was in TNA in 2012. Outrageous pic.twitter.com/pYGo9EmY6j

My friend @Rufuskn has also discovered that he is a registered member of Jubilee without his knowledge. Same date as mine. Widespread? pic.twitter.com/7Ye1gFkoNI

Political parties in Kenya are required by law to submit a list of members to ORPP. The members are important, especially in an election year, because they can run as a candidate in elections and can also vote in the primaries to select candidates who will run in the elections.
ORPP hava a solution to the people who have found themselves registered without their permission. They can;
1. Send an email registering their complaint plus their ID number to info@orpp.or.ke.
2. Call the ORPP representative in their county to have the issue sorted. The full list of representatives is available HERE.
