GP Karting

You don’t have to leave Nairobi to enjoy some fun group activities. Here are some things you and your friends can get up to on a lazy Saturday or Sunday afternoon.

1. Ice skating

This is available at the Panari on Mombasa road. The skating rink is open from 11 am to 10 pm and is charged at an hourly rate of 800 bob. You have to call in advance though to book especially if you’re a big group. Make sure to ask if you can get a discount if you’re a big group.

2.GP Karting

For those who love an adrenaline rush, this is a great choice. It’s a bit pricey and the average rate is 1300 for a 10 minute sprint on the track. If you’re a big group, you can negotiate a group price. A great place for this is GP Karting in Lang’ata.

3. Paintballing

If you’re competitive and don’t mind a little hurt(if you’ve ever been hit by a paintball, you know what I mean), then this is perfect for you. A round of paintballing goes for 1500 per person and is available at GP Karting in Lang’ata as well as for 1000 per person at Paint Ball Fury in Karen and Jungle Paint Ball Kenya on Limuru road (opposite Aga Khan Hospital). If you’re a big group, you can definitely negotiate for a group package.

4. Indoor rock climbing

This is a great way to get fit as well as to test your mental mettle. It’s available at Blue Sky Tours in Diamond Plaza, Parklands. The place is open on weekends from 2pm -9pm and goes for 700 per day with an extra 300 on top if you need to rent shoes.

5. Bike riding

You don’t need to own a bike to go bike riding, you can simply rent one. A great trail to ride down is the Karura one. Bike hire is 500 bob an hour and the trail is well mapped. The place is open from 6 am – 6 pm and you are required to pay 100 bob entry fee for citizens, 200 for residents and 600 for non-residents.

Life is about experiences. Go out of your way to try out the ones above if you haven’t and add a few more great memories with friends and families.
