The Tusker Nexters Lake region auditions came to a close with three musical talents, and four eSports players selected to represent the region at the national finals later in May 2022. The trio consisted of two vocalists: Faith Cherotich a.k.a Legally Chubby, Alex Bob Ogolla a.k.a Kamwana and rapper Timothy Shamah a.k.a TK Lyon.

The Tusker Nexters talent search platform is part of Tusker 100 year anniversary campaign, which aims to bring out the next generation of Kenyan talent in music and sports.

The two day event in the lakeside city of Kisumu marked the second leg in a five-part audition series that will see the brand visit five regions around the country to unearth the next big Kenyan talent. The panel of judges in this leg of the series consisted of; Arrow Boy, Elisha Toto, Femi One, as well as Kisumu-based acts Apesi, Khalid and producer Claster.

Tusker brand Manager, Catherine Twesigye, was delighted at the turnout at the Jomo Kenyatta Stadium: “We are excited at the sheer number of people that have turned out here in Kisumu, showcasing the fantastic talent that the Lake region has to offer. As Tusker, we are excited to be providing platforms for young Kenyan talents to shine. Through the Tusker Nexters countrywide talent search, we hope that this is the catalyst for these talented and gifted individuals to get the chance to show Kenya what they can do.”

Following the announcement of the winners, the finalists expressed their delight at having come out tops during the talent search. with rapper TK Lyon expressing how he was inspired to take part in the contest from watching Tusker Project Fame when he was younger. The Maseno University student mesmerised the Kisumu crowd, which asked for encores whenever he took to the stage. “Come May, we are bringing this thing back to Kisumu,” said the rapper, whose name is Timothy Shamah.

Following the Lake region, the Tusker Nexters talent search continues on 26th March, 2022, at the Nyayo Stadium in Nairobi, then onward to the Rift Region in Eldoret in the following weekend. Both legs will see talented people from the capital and the rift region get an opportunity to showcase their talent in music and eSports.
