Instagram has launched the ability to translate text in Stories for everyone on Instagram. The new feature will enable users to understand stories in their language from anywhere in the world.
It will now be easier than ever for users to connect with their global audiences on Instagram Stories. With translations, people will be able to translate Stories text into their native language and enjoy more content on Instagram.
How it works
When a user is viewing a story, a See Translations banner will appear in the upper left corner of their story if a foreign language is detected. Currently, over 90 languages are supported by Instagram.
To translate, simply tap See Translations and a translation will pop up. Translations are only available for text, and not audio currently.
However, the translation is limited to only Instagram Stories as of now. Instagram has a side that only text translation is available, the audio translation is not available at the moment. The new feature will be rolled out to users across the world and will offer support for 90 languages, including Arabic, Hindi, Japanese, Portuguese and more.
Instagram also announced a new Sensitive content option that lets users control what appears on their Explore feeds. Announcing the new feature, Instagram said in a blog post, “Today we’re launching Sensitive Content Control on Instagram, which allows you to decide how much sensitive content shows up in Explore. We believe people should be able to shape Instagram into the experience that they want. We’ve started to move in this direction with tools like the ability to turn off comments or Restrict someone from interacting with you on Instagram.”
This feature will give more control to users to see what appears on their feeds. They can limit the type of content that they do not want to see on their Explore feeds. To enable the feature, go to your profile, tap the Settings menu in the upper right corner, tap Account, then tap Sensitive Content Control. You can either keep the setting at its default state, limit or to see more, Allow, or less of some types of sensitive content, Limit Even More.
