UBA Kenya through its CSR arm, UBA Foundation, hosted a free one-day medical camp at all its branches in Kenya. The medical camps were in partnership with Eddah’s Hope and HCG/CCK Cancer Centre.

The medical camp which was launched at the bank’s NHIF Branch, attracted close to 1,000 residents who turned up at UBA branches to access free prostrate, cervical and breast cancer screening.

Mr. Emeke E. Iweriebor, CEO, UBA East and Southern Africa had this to say about the medical camps “This turnout just goes to show that there is immense need for health care in our community. As Africa’s global bank, we remain passionate about giving back, through several initiatives. This year the bank hosted several corporate social responsibility initiatives, which included the UBA Foundation’s Read Africa Initiative, Each One, Teach One and today’s free cancer screening medical camp, as we aim to impact the lives and livelihoods of Kenyans.”

Mr. Issaji Moussah, Founder, Eddah’s Hope added “There is need for more Public-Private partnerships to uplift communities through mobilization, education and empowering young adults with information on cancer to advocate for the adoption of preventive measure and leading of healthy lifestyles.”

The cancer screening medical camps are a culmination of the activities that the bank held to create awareness on the importance of cancer screening and early detection.
