In a first for our country Renault yesterday unveiled Renault KWID a passenger car that costs Kshs.1 million. We live in a country where buying a brand new car is beyond the reach of many due to the cost implication hence the prevalence of second hand imported cars. The KWID might be the game changer because not only is the car brand new but it comes with a three year warranty and its fuel efficiency is out of this world.

The KWID which is sold as a budget is acclaimed to be the best in it’s class and comes packed with the following features;

  • Muscular looks ( SUV inspired design)
  • Connectivity ( Bluetooth, USB, AUX)
  • 300 Litres of bootspace
  • Entertainment (2-DIN MEDIANAV touchscreem music system)
  • Fuel efficiency ( 25.17 KM/L)
  • Warranty ( 3 years)
  • 53 BHP , 72NM Engine
  • Spacious interiors
  • High ground clearance (180MM)

The car comes with a 799cc engine and weighs about 600kg which is not a lot. However, for town driving this car is awesome. It will be a hit with those looking for a new car at a reasonable price. I am pretty sure that the ladies will love it but the downside is that it is a manual transmission car while most prefer automatic cars which are less hectic to drive. But for such a car and at that price I would make the effort to learn how to drive one.
