Wambui Kinya has been appointed the Chief Strategy Officer at tech talent firm Andela. This comes on the back of $24 million funding that Andela received from Chan Zuckerberg Initiative and GV.
Kinya’s role at Andela will encompass leading Andela’s partnership strategy in Africa and stepping the organization developer recruitment efforts in Africa. She will also help drive Andela’s mission to promote and empower female software developers. She will be based at Andela’s Nairobi office.
Wambui Kinya has over eighteen years’ experience in digital, mobile marketing and technology consulting. She was previously the Group Managing Director, Pan Africa and South America, at ThoughtWorks. She has also worked for companies such as Praekelt Consulting, IBM Global Business Services and Digitas (Publicis Groupe).
Andela recruits talented software developers in Africa, trains them and then links them with companies. It was founded in 2014 by Iyinoluwa Aboyeji, Jeremy Johnson, Ian Carnevale and Christina Sass. It first set up office in Lagos, Nairobi and it now has a presence in Nairobi and New York.
