Barclays Bank of Kenya has this week launched its agency banking strategy by signing a partnership with Postal Corporation of Kenya (PCK). This partnership will see the Barclay’s 800,000 customers access their banking services through the postal corporations by end year. Apart from the usual transactions like deposits, withdrawals and mini statements the PCK outlets will also act as collection points for money sent through the Barclays Cash Send Service.

The agency banking roll out will take a phased approach with Barclays customers being able to access 182 outlets in the immediate term with the remaining 218 outlets coming on board by the end of the year.

Mr. Jeremy Awori, Managing Director, Barclays Bank of Kenya had this to say during the launch “Customers will be able to carry out transactions through the agency network and hence reduce the need to visit the branches.  Moreover, with Posta network across the country, Barclays banking services will be more accessible to populations outside main urban areas.”

Barclays currently has a network of 121 branches spread throughout the country and its customers rely on the bank’s Branch and ATM Network and Digital channels to carry out their banking transactions. As such this partnership will thus bring a lot of convenience to the bank’s customers.
