Kenyan Blog Awards 2014
The Kenyan Blog Awards 2015 journey started on 9th January 2015 when the awards were launched. This coincided with the opening of the submission phase where bloggers or their fans could submit Kenyan blogs into the competition. This phase was closed on February 18th 2015.
Thereafter Judges, who included Philip Mwaniki, Lynda Nyangwezo, Mbugua Njihia, Ahmed Salim and Joel Macharia, sifted through the 1800+ submitted blogs. They then separated the wheat from the chaff and eventually came up with 5 nominees in each of the competition’s 18 categories.
The online voting ballot box blogawards.co.ke/vote was opened on March 2nd 2015 (Voting closes tomorrow so head there if you haven’t voted 🙂 ). Last year there were 80,000 people who voted in the competition and it seems this year there will be many voters if the interest the awards has generated this year is any indication.
This year’s blog awards has attracted sponsorship from the likes of Airtel, who are the gold sponsors, (Airtel also sponsored the airing of a blog awards TV ad that aired on KTN for most of April), Hivos Foundation, Xpose, X News, Infinix, Tecno, Nation Media Group, Easy Taxi, Kenic, Intel, NIC Bank, Intercontinental Hotel and Coca-Cola.
The culmination of this year’s Kenyan Blog Awards will be the Winner’s Gala Event on Saturday 2nd May 2015 at the Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi. This is the second year running that the blog awards gala event has been held at Intercon. Last year’s event was quite something, with Larry Madowo as the host and Dan Aceda providing entertainment as the winners were awarded in each category.
