The time to vote for your favourite Kenyan blogs in the Kenyan Blog Awards, organized by the Bloggers Association of Kenya (BAKE), is here with us again. The voting phase was launched at an event at the Intercontinental Hotel Nairobi. The launch coincided with the announcement of nominees in the competition’s 18 categories.
This is the fourth year of the Kenyan Blog Awards with the maiden one taking place in 2012. This year’s competition was launched on January 8th 2015 with the opening of the submission phase where Kenyans were invited to submit blogs. The submission phase was closed on February 18th 2015 and thereafter judges took over and came up with 5 nominees in each category from the submitted blogs. This year’s judges were Philip Mwaniki, Lynda Nyangweso, Mbugua Njihia, Joel Macharia and Ahmed Salim. At the voting phase launch BAKE Chairman Kennedy Kachwanya announced that this year’s submissions were a whooping 1880 blogs. “The blog content creation in Kenya is growing and this is evident from the increase in nominations and voting numbers over time” he added.
Airtel Kenya are this year’s Gold Sponsors and at the event the CEO Adil El Youssefi had this to say about their support of the blog awards and Kenyan bloggers. “We must support the ecosystem around our business & bloggers are part of our ecosystem, we are sponsoring the blog awards this year because we also believe in local content”.
Other Kenyan Blog Awards 2015 sponsors include the Hivos Foundation, Intel, Xpose, and X News.
