Soul Afro Funk singer and song writer Ythera has been into music since her days in high school. This is what she has to say about her music “I want my music to inspire and entertain people, and at the same time carry across a message. I want my music to have a distinguished presence in the Kenyan, as well as the global music scene,” she says

Ythera has just released her second single “Ahadi Ahadi”. This comes hot on the heels of her debut performance at Blankets and Wines, Ythera has skilfully blended a groovy sound in the song that talks about the double standards our politicians keep and she advocates for change.

Her debut single, Kijana, was released on Valentine’s Day eve 2014 off her upcoming album. She features her band in this love ballad that talks about a young lad that has confused all her senses with his mannerisms and charisma. She describes the song as Doo-wop meets Reggae meets Soul.

Ahadi Ahadi is a mellow song that touches on the heart of Kenyan politics. In a world where false promises are the norm, this song is a breath of fresh air as an artist alls out politicians. I like the beat and tone of the song. It touches on a sensitive issue but is not filled with anger and is actually soothing to listen to.

The lyrics are well thought out; simple words that spell out a message loud and clear. It’s not hard to find yourself singing along to the song as it plays. It’s one catchy song that is relatable to all types of audiences.

With 2 songs under her belt, Ythera has set the bar high. Hopefully, she will keep up the trend with more catchy tunes. You can download and listen to the song here: mdundo.com/songs/13499
