The Kenya Golf Union (KGU) has officially released the schedule for the 2026 Kenya Amateur Golf Championship Circuit (KAGC Circuit). The calendar features a blend of historic local majors, international representative fixtures, and the prestigious Magical Kenya Open.
The golfing year kicks off in traditional fashion with the Nairobi District Foursomes at Muthaiga Golf Club (January 9–11), followed closely by the Sigona Bowl. As January draws to a close, the circuit moves to the highlands for the Mt. Kenya Championship at Nyeri Golf Club.
February is set to be a landmark month for elite players. Top-ranking amateurs will travel to South Africa for the Africa Amateur Championship at Royal Johannesburg before returning home for the highlight of the professional calendar, the Magical Kenya Open, which returns to Karen Country Club from February 19–22.
March serves as a grueling test of endurance and skill. Following the Victoria Cup in Uganda, the local circuit intensifies with the Windsor Classic, Muthaiga Open, and the Ulinzi Open. The month concludes with one of Kenya’s most storied rivalries: the Tannahill Shield at Royal Nairobi Golf Club, running through the first week of April.
The second quarter of the year maintains the momentum with regional favorites, including the Winston Churchill at Thika Sports Club and the Trans-Nzoia Championship in Kitale.
As the season hits its midpoint, the focus shifts to the national championships. July stands out as the most critical month for those vying for the Order of Merit title. The Kenya Amateur Stroke Play Championship will be hosted at Royal Nairobi Golf Club (July 23–26), immediately followed by the Kenya Amateur Match Play Championship at Limuru Country Club. These two events are pivotal for players looking to secure spots in international tournaments and the following year’s Kenya Open.
Coastal golf also takes center stage during this period, with the historic Barry Cup (Coast Open) in Mombasa and the Vasco Da Gama Cup in Malindi scheduled for July and September, respectively.
The final quarter of the year sees the circuit travel to the Western and Rift regions. Highlights include the Tea Fields Trophy in Kericho, the Nyanza Open (Hippo Pot) in Kisumu, and the Manchester Salver in Eldoret.
The 2026 season will reach its climax in December. The Uhuru Shield at Royal Nairobi Golf Club provides a penultimate challenge before the year concludes at the coast with the Nyali Open from December 18–20, where the 2026 KAGC champion will likely be crowned.
In addition to the local circuit, Kenyan amateurs will represent the nation on several international fronts, with dates to be confirmed for the Africa Region IV Tournament in Mauritius and the All Africa Golf Team Championship.
