Kenyan-born singer and songwriter Victoria Kimani has launched Spirit Animal, her fourth studio album.
In this album, Victoria fuses AfroPop, R&B and Afrobeats to create a Pan-African fusion of featured artists and producers from Africa including Kenya, Ghana, South Africa, Tanzania and Nigeria.
With her spirit animal being the Zebra Victoria hopes to channel the animal’s attributes such as balance, freedom, individuality, community, stamina, uniqueness and endurance through the album.
According to her, the story behind the journey to create Spirit Animal was guided through the spirit and empowered to persevere and push through the day to day struggles while dancing through it all.
Victoria Kimani sings solo on Remedy, with the visuals showcasing her Kikuyu culture and country music influence on Kenyan fashion.
The album features both African music veterans and buzzing newcomers such as Ghana’s Kidi with their collaboration hit Long Distance and Nigeria’s Bella Shmurda on Gimme Money.
