Consumer electronics company, Infinix, recently launched the Infinix Zero 8 smartphone in the Kenyan market. This flagship device is different design wise and the company has gone all out in making this device stand out.

The Infinix Zero 8 features a superior design and comes with an amazing 6 cameras and light build that makes it easier to carry and hold the phone.

Design

Like we mentioned in the introduction, the phone comes with a different and premium design that differentiates it from other Infinix phones that the company has launched.

It makes sense with the company’s direction to position the phone and brand as a design focused smartphone.

The 4 quad camera design at the back fits very well into the design of the phone and it makes it feel almost natural. The phone’s fingerprint sensor is at the right side while the selfie cameras are nestled neatly at the front of the phone. The fingerprint sensor also serves as the power button and above it is the volume button.

The dual SIM card port is on the left and this also houses the microSD card slot. The speaker, type-C charging port and headphone jack and the microphone is at the bottom of the phone.

Performance

The Infinix Zero 8 comes with a Helio G90T processor and Mali-G76 MC4 GPU plus with 8 GB of RAM and 128GB of internal storage.

It is perfect for multitasking even for heavy apps such as Snapchat, Instagram, Twitter and Facebook. What’s even better if that you can be able to use most heavy apps at the same time.

For gaming, you are even able to play while some heavy apps are running in the background. I was able to game while apps such as Instagram and Facebook were operating. However, you may be have to close some apps while playing some heavy games.

The fingerprint sensor and the face unlock feature works pretty well without any lag and in performance wise, the phone works as it should and more, sometimes.

Screen

The screen is 6.85 inch LCD screen with 1080 by 2460 pixels. It is bright enough for even high light situations and brings out enough colours for many uses.

The phone comes with a less bezel screen that ensures that you can be able to use as much of the screen as possible. The screen is also 90Hz and this makes it perfect for streaming for video and gaming.

Camera

With this phone, Infinix has really impressed and the phone has a total of 6 cameras. The phone features a 48MP dual selfie camera and a 64MP AI-powered quad camera setup.

The camera set up, both at the back and the front is a design masterpiece and it defines the direction that the company has now chosen to take.

The camera software is also so much better and it helps the user to be able to take even better pictures that is backed up by fantastic hardware, especially if you take into account the price of the device.

We have done a separate review of the camera that is available HERE.

Battery

The Infinix Zero 8 comes with a 4500mAh battery with USB-C charging coupled with 33W fast charging. The phone can really take a beating battery wise even for heavy users. I was able to get 12 hours on light use and 9 hours of heavy use including gaming.

With this phone, you can be sure that you do not need to carry your charger especially when you are using it averagely without video streaming and gaming. The fast charging is also a plus because you can charge pretty quickly even when its on empty.

Software

The phone is powered by Android 10 and XOS Dolphin v7.0. It comes with features such as system-wide dark mode, navigation gestures, digital wellbeing controls and features such as Game-mode and Social Turbo.

You have to do a lot of customization to be able to block notifications from certain apps that come with the phone. If feels like that Infinix needs to put in measures to have these apps and notifications to be optional because they interfere with the general experience of the phone.

Final thoughts

The Infinix Zero 8 is quite something and you can feel the maturity of the offering, from the screen, to the camera, battery life and the overall phone performance. The kinks are managable and it will work even for the most heavy user.
