Supermarket chain Naivas has announced that it will run a customer cash back promotion during the upcoming festive period.

The company will invest over Ksh. 30 million in the promotion where customers will get a direct cash back after purchasing goods from the supermarket chain.

Speaking during the launch of the 2019 season’s consumer drive, Naivas Chief Commercial Officer Willy Kimani said that the company was keeping with its nine-year tradition popularly known as ‘Kikwetu’, (Swahili for ‘our ways’), to deliver tap more customers across its network.

“2019, has so far been a tough year for Kenyans and we want to ensure they can enjoy the festive season, despite the hassles it comes with,” he explained. Kimani added that the general mood of the economy was that Kenyans feel weighed down heavily, with a strong expectation that the Christmas shopping atmosphere will be dampened. Naivas, he noted, is determined to inject a measure of warmth with its campaign aptly themed ‘Usiwe na was, krisi ni Naivas’.

The campaign is designed to draw and reward Kenyans across Naivas growing branch network countrywide. Kimani explained that the firm expects to open at least two new stores, In Nairobi and Kiambu counties, over the next eight weeks, bringing its total footprint to 58 outlets.

To execute the cash back, the firm is rolling out a system that ensures 250 shoppers receive Kshs 2,000 daily in the form of a voucher with their shopping. In addition, the retailer said that it has worked out discounted prices on selected items that will be on offer throughout the festive season.
