The shareholders of Diamond Trust Bank (DTB) have approved the appointment of Mr Linus Gitahi, 56, as the new board chairman. The shareholders approved the appointment at the Annual General Meeting (AGM) that was held on Thursday, May 23, 2019.
The appointment of Linus Gitahi follows the retirement of Mr. Abdul Samji who had served in the position for nine years. Gitahi has been serving as a Director of DTB from April 2017.
Gitahi is currently pursuing his doctorate (Ph.D.) studies at the United States International University-Africa, and holds a B. Com (Hons.) in Accounting from the University of Nairobi, a diploma in Management from the Kenya Institute of Management (KIM) and an MBA from the United States International University.
Gitahi is a Fellow of the Kenya Institute of Management and a Trustee of the Management University of Africa. He is currently the Chairman of the Brand Kenya Board and Tropikal Brands (Africa) Limited. He is a director at Simba Corp, Outspan Hospital and Medical College and Allianz Insurance (K) Limited. He has previously served as the Chief Executive Officer of the Nation Media Group and prior to that was the Group Chief Executive Officer for GlaxoSmithKline in West Africa.
