The application deadline for the The Great Kenyan Bake Off has been extended to May 27 from the previous one of May 20 2019.

After the deadline, the applicants will be vetted and shortlisted to 12 contestants who will take part in The Great Kenyan Bake Off. To apply, amateur bakers should go to thegreatkenyanbakeoff.com

Kenyan amateur bakers will compete for a chance to win a fully paid two week trip to France. The Kenyan version of the show is sponsored by Unga Limited and will air on KTN home for 10 weeks from September, 2019.

In the show, a group of amateur bakers will compete against each other and will be judged on their skills at making cakes, breads, pastries and desserts of all kinds. Each week, one contestant will be eliminated until the finale when Kenya’s next top baker will be announced.

The lucky winner will enjoy a two- week fully paid trip to France.They will undergo baking and pastry training with top chefs. In addition, the winner will undergo a 2 month apprenticeship at a local bakery upon return to Kenya that will allow them to sharpen their business skills. The winner will also be awarded with kitchen equipment worth Ksh. 150,000 and will get an opportunity to run their own bakery.

To participate in the competition, you need the following;

  • You must be aged 18 or above by 15th April 2019.
  • You must be a citizen of Kenya.
  • You cannot have ever worked full time as a baker, cook or chef.
  • Your main source of income must not derive from commercial baking in a professional environment
  • You must be able to commit to all the filming days required which are currently expected to be during July and August 2019.
