Euronuts Boys and Limuru Starlets, both from Kiambu, emerged victorious in the Central Region finals of the Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom Central Region finals. Euronuts triumphed with a 1:0 score after a tough match against Lufa from Kirinyaga. Limuru Starlets on the other hand won in the girls category after beating Rwambiti, from Kirinyaga, 6:0.

“We anticipated this win from the beginning of the tournament and this is a dream come true. Our team has worked very hard to reach this far and the future looks bright. We are certain of good results in the National finals and we look forward to winning the ultimate prize. We are truly excited,” said Millicent Njoki – Limuru Starlets top scorer who scored four out of the six goals during their match.

The winners were each rewarded Ksh. 200,000 and have now joined other teams from Rift Valley, Eastern, Nyanza, North Eastern, Coast and Western regions for the national finals set for 24th and 25th of this month at Bukhungu Stadium, Kakamega County. The team that emerges triumphant during the finals will walk away with Ksh. 1 million and an opportunity for training and mentorship in London later in the year.

The Chapa Dimba Na Safaricom is a football tournament that features teams of young people aged 16-20 years old divided into boy’s and girl’s teams. The tournament is part of Safaricom’s dedication to transforming the lives of Kenyan youth through supporting ventures that directly relate to them. The company has invested Ksh. 100 million in the program which includes Ksh. 10 Million worth of prizes as well as funds for renovation of select community pitches.
