Kenya Association of Manufacturers (KAM) in partnership with the Commission on Revenue Allocation (CRA) together with technical support from European Union (EU) has launched The Integrated Devolution Data Portal (TIDDP).
The portal contains all the information regarding devolution and the county governments. Access to the portal will be free and open to members of the public. It will allow the public to access data on legislation that has implemented by county governments. One will also be able to access the fees and taxes charged by the various country governments among other things.
For business people , knowing a county taxation laws makes it easier for them to plan for their businesses. It helps them choose which counties have the most favorable economic environment and invest there. This will serve as an impetus to counties that are deemed to have unfavorable taxes to conform at the risk of reduced revenues as businesses migrate.
Also using the information available on the portal, Kenyans will be able to participate more in the affairs of their counties. With the information at hand Kenyans will be able to effectively guide their MCA’s on matters county legislation.
The data sharing platform will also enable the 47 counties to benchmark and learn from each other using the resources available on the portal. The website can be found here data.crakenya.org.
