Dr. Bitange Ndemo and Vivek Badrinath have been appointed to the Safaricom board of directors. The appointments are effetive today and were approved at a board meeting that took place earlier today.

Mr. Badrinath will represent Vodafone on the board and is the current CEO, AMAP Region for Vodafone. He oversees Vodafone’s operations in the Vodacom Group, India, Australia, Egypt, Ghana, Kenya, Qatar, New Zealand and Turkey. He was previously the Deputy CEO at AccorHotels, Deputy CEO at Orange, Board member of Nokia between 2014 and 2016.

Dr. Ndemo will be a independent and non-executive ditector on the board. He is a noted ICT industry expert who currently lectures on entrepreneurship and research methods at the University of Nairobi’s Business School. He was previously the Permanent Secretary of Kenya’s Ministry of Information and Communication between 2005 to 2013. He has also spent more than two decades in the classroom and lecture halls with over 20 years of experience lecturing at the university level.
