Epson has announced that 13 of its latest home and business printers have gained Mopria-certified status. Mopria members are advancing mobile print standards that allow business and home users to print regardless of brand, device or operating system.

By becoming certified, Epson’s printers will work with the Mopria Print Service and the built-in Printing Framework in Android v4.4 or later (KitKat). After ensuring the printer has the latest version of firmware installed, Android 4.4 users can print from Google apps such as Chrome, Gmail, Drive and QuickOffice, as well as the Adobe Reader and Kingsoft WPS Office App. With Android projected to account for 74 percent of global smartphones and tablets sold in 20142, Epson is actively enabling intuitive printing for an unprecedented number of new Android users.

Mukesh Bector , Regional Sales Manager, Epson Kenya, commented: “With European tablet and smartphone sales almost seven times greater than desktop sales and two of every five employees using smartphones at work, the need for intuitive mobile printing options and support is apparent. Epson is proud to actively support an industry-wide movement to streamline mobile printing ease-of-use and accessibility.”

Mopria-certified mobile devices will be able to automatically detect the following Epson Mopria-certified printers through their Wi-Fi connection, Expression Home XP-322, Expression Home XP-422, Expression Home XP-425, Expression Premium XP-520, Expression Premium XP-620, Expression Premium XP-625, Expression Premium XP-720, Expression Premium XP-820, Expression Photo XP-760, Expression Photo XP-860, WorkForce WF-2630, WorkForce WF-2660 and WorkForce WF-2650.
