OLX has relaunched their mobile app and it is definitely worth downloading and using. The earlier version had been in the market for about 2 years before user complaints forced OLX to upgrade to cater to their customers. The new one which has been under development for a year is ideal for people living in areas with slow internet connections.

The only way to know if the app is worth the hype was to try it out, which I did. Here are my thoughts on it:
An app is all about the user interface. If it’s too complex or busy, most people won’t use it. This was not the case with the OLX app. It has a great user interface ideal for use by anyone even if you aren’t techno-savvy. It starts off with a great welcome message(kudos for that OLX!). The app automatically syncs to your location and displays ads based on that.

I like that part since it means I can search for an item based on my location for convenience. The app is minimalist in design and this gives it a clean neat look and feel. The animation movements are pretty simple. There are no fancy and annoying items that will make using it a problem.

I am constantly waiting for pages to load forever due to slow internet. This was not a problem when using the app. Within a few seconds, the app responds to your command and you get to navigate through it smoothly. No more singing songs in my head as I wait for the internet to respond and load the page

Posting items is a walk in the park. You even get to take a pic through the app and upload it directly rather than search you gallery. The only downside is you can’t edit the picture once you upload it. I would have loved to have that function available. I also loved the fact that deleting an ad got a response immediately.

I also liked the fact that I can favorite any ads I like and easily access them. It also helped that I can access the saved searches without having to turn on my data.

I had an easy time using the OLX app. I am not that techno-savvy but I could tell a lot of work and thought went into it. If I had to rate the app, I would give it a 7.5 out of 10. The OLX app is making so much easier to sell and buy goods online. It is definitely worth getting if you have a smartphone. The good news is it is available on Android, iOS, Blackberry and Windows. No excuse for you not to get it.
So exactly what was my overall verdict of the app?
