Let’s be honest. We all know that loving something doesn’t make you good at it, and working at an awesome company that makes you look mediocre will still leave you dissatisfied. The perfect career should instead be a combination of what interests you and what you’re good at. Question is how do you go about finding or choosing the right career?
Here are some key things to consider when choosing a possible career.

1. Your Hobbies or Natural Talents.
We all have a few things we do that come naturally to us. They should play a big role in the career path you choose to follow. One thing about selecting a career out of things you love doing and are good at, it’s enjoyable. If you are good at and love writing, make a career out of it. If you natural talent is in music, go for it. Commercialize your skill.
2. The best environment for your personality type
Your personality will play a huge role in your career. You should select something that will make who you are fit in and be productive. You should take a personality test to figure out what type you are. it’s very important to know if you are an extrovert or an introvert as each type has different needs career wise. You could thrive better in a quiet office that needs minimum interaction with others. Or your personality may need you to be out there meeting as many people as possible. Whatever you need and will be comfortable with is the path to go for.
3. Your goals and long term objectives in life
What do you want to achieve at the end of it all? Think long and hard about this. Knowing what you want to achieve in life will help you decide on the path to take. The amount of success you make in life will be measured by your hard work. You can only work hard knowing what you want the end result will be. Choose a career that will help you achieve whatever objectives you have set out in life. If your goal is to cure people, then be a doctor. Go towards a career that makes your goals achievable.
4. The amount of money you want to make
Don’t let anyone fool you. Money will always play a role in selection of your career. Think of the lifestyle you live or want to live. Then consider the money needed to live that lifestyle. Think of how much you need to get by comfortably, feed your kids and pay rent. Go for a career that will make all this possible. Don’t be stuck in a career that is not making ends meet for you.
