The Housing Finance (HF) Group has appointed Prof Olive Mugenda as an Independent Non-Executive Director and Chairperson of its Board of Directors effectve 21st October, 2021.
Prof Mugenda takes over from former HF Group Chairman and Non-Executive Director Dr. Steve Omenge Mainda, who retired last year.
She is a seasoned academic researcher and administrator with a specialization in Women and Girl’s Education, Research Methods and Statistics as well as Leadership and Governance.
Prof Olive is a PhD Graduate of Iowa State University in USA, Master of Business Administration, Eastern and Southern Africa Management Institute (ESAMI) in Arusha, Tanzania, Master of Science Iowa University USA and Bachelor of Education from the University of Nairobi.
She is the current Chairperson of the Kenyatta University Teaching and Referral Hospital, Commissioner with the Judicial Service Commission, Non-Executive Director, UBA Kenya among other top boardroom positions.
She is also the former Vice Chancellor-Kenyatta University for over 10 years (2006-2016) and is credited with building the learning institution’s stature and financial muscle.
Commenting on Prof. Mugenda’s appointment, HF Group Robert Kibaara said the Board is delighted to confirm Prof. Mugenda’s appointment as Board Chair of HF Group. “Her wealth of expertise and outstanding transformational leadership track record will be a valuable addition for the Group at a time when we are on a transformation journey. Prof. Mugenda’s mandate will be to oversee the Group’s Growth and transformation agenda, specifically our diversification to a full-service bank,” added Kibaara.
